Managing Property Insurance

Managing your property insurance is an essential part of maintaining your portfolio with care and precision. This article provides you with a step-by-step guide on how to access and update insurance records for a property in your database, ensuring all information is current and readily available when needed. Whether you're adding a new insurance policy, editing existing information, or renewing a policy, we've got you covered.


Accessing Property Insurance Records

To view the insurance details for a specific property:

  1. Select the property from your portfolio.
  2. Click on the Insurance tab located in the left-hand menu.
  3. You will then land on the Property Insurance Page.

This page provides an overview of all insurance policies associated with the property, including the option to add new policies or edit existing ones.


Understanding the Property Insurance Page

On the Property Insurance page, you will find:

  • The option to click the Policy Title of an existing policy to make edits.
  • A Preview link next to each policy for a quick glance at the policy details.
  • The type of insurance policy associated with the property.

Adding a New Insurance Record

If you need to add new insurance policy details:

  1. Click on the New Insurance Record button.
  2. Fill in the required fields with the policy details.
  3. Once all information is entered, click Save to record the new insurance policy.

The details required for a new record include:

  • Policy Number.
  • Insurance Type (options defined in Company Settings).
  • Insurance Company Name.
  • Broker Name (if not previously set up, will be added as new contact).
  • Policy Start and Renewal Dates.
  • Premium, Excess, and Cover Amounts.
  • Any additional Notes and Documents.


Editing or Archiving Insurance Records

To modify or remove an existing insurance policy:

  1. Click on the policy name to preview it.
  2. Select Insurance Details from the left side menu.
  3. Make the necessary edits or click Archive to permanently delete the record.
  4. Remember to hit Save to confirm edits or Cancel to disregard changes.

Renewing Insurance Policies

When it's time to renew an insurance policy:

  1. Go to the Dashboard calendar.
  2. Click on the insurance event to be renewed and Mark as Complete.
  3. Select Yes to proceed with creating a renewal record.
  4. Update the insurance details for the new policy period and Save.

Your insurance policy is now successfully renewed and the details are updated in the system.


Following these steps will help you efficiently manage property insurance within your portfolio, ensuring you're always prepared and well-informed.
