Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central – Limitations and Known Issues

  • Updated

This article outlines the current limitations and known issues when using the Re-Leased integration with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central. We're continuously working to improve this integration and will update this page as we learn more from customer feedback and usage. If you are facing any issues not outlined below, please reach out to our support team for assistance.

System Requirements and Compatibility

Supported Dynamics Versions

This integration supports *cloud-based* Dynamics 365 Business Central versions 25 and later only. On-premises installations of Dynamics are not supported.

Dynamics Product Clarification

This integration is specifically designed for Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC). Please note the following distinctions:

  • Dynamics 365: An umbrella term covering multiple ERP and CRM solutions from Microsoft.
  • Dynamics 365 Finance: A separate accounting package designed for mid-to-large enterprises. This integration does not support Dynamics 365 Finance.
  • Before attempting to connect, ensure you are using Business Central, as other Dynamics products are not compatible.

Current Limitations

1. Multiple Email Addresses on Contacts

Status: Not supported

Dynamics allows multiple email addresses (comma-separated) on contact records. However, Re-Leased requires a single, properly formatted email address. Contact records without a single valid email address will fail to sync and appear in the Sync Results page.

2. Duplicate Contact Numbers

Status: Workaround available

Issues occur if a Vendor and Customer in Dynamics share the same name and contact number.

Workaround: Rename one of the contacts (typically the Vendor) in Dynamics to differentiate between them.

3. Property Tracking Configuration

Status: Limited support

Property tracking is supported using Dimensions in Dynamics but with these restrictions:

  • If using a third-party or bespoke property management add-on within Dynamics, this integration cannot connect with those systems.
  • Dimension-based property tracking is supported only when using Dynamics’ native functionality.

4. Dimension Hierarchy Display

Status: Not supported

When working with Dimensions:

  • Hierarchical dimension structures are not displayed within Re-Leased.
  • Property tracking using a parent dimension is supported only if the parent dimension directly appears on invoices.
  • Child dimensions within a hierarchy may not sync correctly.

5. Contact Syncing Scope

Status: Limited

Currently, only Customers and Vendors are synced from Dynamics. Individual "people" or contact records associated with these entities are not synced.

6. Invoice Editing After Sync

Status: Not supported

Once an approved invoice is synced from Re-Leased to Dynamics, it appears in Dynamics as a Posted Invoice, which cannot be edited through the UI.

7. Tax Calculation and Application

Status: Auto-calculated in Dynamics

Tax is automatically calculated and applied within Dynamics, then synced back to Re-Leased. Users cannot directly apply tax rates within Re-Leased prior to syncing.

Future Enhancement: We plan to add functionality that allows users to apply tax rates directly within Re-Leased during a future update.
