Run the Profit & Loss report

COMING SOON

The Profit & Loss report shows revenue minus expenses for a company over a date range, grouped by chart of account. Use it to check profitability for a period, or to see the account-level detail behind a company's net result.

Before you begin

The Profit & Loss report is only available for companies with accrual accounting enabled. To open it:

  1. Go to ReportingGeneral Reports.

  2. In the Financial column, click Profit and Loss Report (Accrual).

Run the report

Set the filters at the top of the page:

  • Company — the company you're reporting on.

  • Start Date and End Date — the transaction date range for the report.

  • Owner and Property — optional filters to narrow the report to specific dimensions.

Click Filters to open the side panel for more options:

  • Tenancy and Ledger — filter by tenancy or ledger (for trust/client accounting companies).

  • Show zero balances — include accounts with a zero total for the period. Off by default, so accounts with no activity are hidden.

Click Apply Filters > Run to load the report with the selected filters.

Read the report

The report is split into two sections:

  • Revenue — accounts of type Revenue. The section total shows total revenue for the period.

  • Expenses — accounts of type Expense. The section total shows total expenses for the period.

Each row within a section shows the account Code, Account Name, and Amount.

Click any row to drill through to the Journals Report, pre-filtered to that account and the same date range, so you can see the exact journals that make up the balance.

Below the sections, a summary box shows the calculation (Revenue − Expenses) and the Net Profit (or Net Loss if expenses exceed revenue) for the period.

Download the report
