Revenue recognition in Sage Intacct defers and recognises revenue over time. This guide covers the Intacct prerequisites and shows how to connect Re-Leased rent instalments so recognition posts correctly.
Intacct Prerequisites
Before integrating Re-Leased with Sage Intacct revenue recognition, ensure these items are set up in Intacct (typically by your implementation partner):
Revenue Recognition Template
Item and Item GL Groups
Transaction Definitions (including a Sales Invoice/Activation Document)
Order Entry configuration
Revenue Recognition Journals and Accounts (e.g. Deferred Revenue, Revenue – Services)
Linking Rent Templates to Activation Documents
Each Rent Template in Re-Leased must reference the Intacct Activation Document (Sales Order) and use the correct OE Transaction Definition.
Field | Description |
OE Transaction Definition | The transaction type in Intacct for the invoice. |
Source Document Number | The Document Number of the Intacct Activation Document or Sales Order. Enter manually in Re-Leased. |
Revenue Recognition Template | Linked via Item GL setup in Intacct. Determines the revenue schedule. |
Note: Re-Leased does not automate the Source Document Number link. You must manually add the Activation Document number to each Rent Template.
Open the relevant Rent Template in Re-Leased.
Select the correct OE Transaction Definition.
Paste the Activation Document (Sales Order) number into the Source Document Number field.
Save the template.
One-Off Invoices
For ad hoc invoices, fill these fields on each invoice line to trigger recognition:
Select the Revenue Recognition Template.
Enter the Revenue Recognition Start and End Dates.
Choose the OE Transaction Definition.
End-to-End Flow
Create the Activation Document in Sage Intacct — define the contract term, item, quantity, and Revenue Recognition Template.
Enter the Source Document Number in Re-Leased — paste the Activation Document number into the Rent Template's Source Document Number field.
Generate the invoice from Re-Leased — Re-Leased creates the invoice using the linked transaction definition.
Run revenue recognition in Intacct — Intacct triggers recognition using the template tied to the item, creating monthly recognition posts.
Common Setup Checks
Confirm the Rent Template links to the correct Intacct Activation Document.
Verify the Item on the Activation Document has the required Item GL Group and revenue recognition settings.
Re-Leased supports a single Revenue Recognition Template per invoice — line-level templates are not supported.

In Asia-Pacific, "Tenancies" is the standard term; North American customers refer to them as "Leases". For more information on regional terminology, see our Glossary of Regional Terminology.
