Voiding Invoices in Client/Trust Accounting

Permanently void approved or draft invoices in Re-Leased Client/Trust Accounting. Covers when to void, the step-by-step process, the Ignore as Rent option for rent invoices, and key considerations.

Updated over a week ago

Voiding an invoice permanently removes it from active processing. You can void approved or draft invoices. Invoices with payments applied must have those payments reversed before you can void them.

When to Void an Invoice

  • The invoice was issued in error.

  • The services or goods were cancelled.

  • A duplicate invoice was created.

How to Void an Approved Invoice

  1. Navigate to Income & Expenses and open the invoice you want to void. You can also access it from the relevant tenancy or property.

  2. Click Void Invoice.

  3. Confirm by clicking Void Invoice again in the confirmation dialog.

Note: When voiding a rent invoice, you will see an option to Ignore as Rent. Select this to push the rent period back so the invoice can be recreated. If you do not select this option, you cannot regenerate a rent invoice for the same period — a one-off invoice would need to be created manually to cover that period instead.

Before You Void

  • Confirm the invoice has been approved.

  • If payments have been applied, reverse them first.

  • Voiding is permanent and cannot be undone.

  • Once a rent invoice is voided without selecting Ignore as Rent, a new invoice cannot be generated for the same period.

For Asia-Pacific customers, the term "Trust Account" is used. European customers refer to this as "Client Account". Client/Trust Accounting is not available to customers in North America. For more information on regional terminology, see our Glossary of Regional Terminology.
