This guide covers how to configure Macquarie Bank DEFT/BPAY payments for tenants in Re-Leased by entering tenant reference numbers and check digits into invoice templates. Complete this setup after speaking with Macquarie Bank about your account type.


Step 1: Confirm Your DEFT/Biller Codes and Account Type

Before starting, speak with Macquarie Bank to verify whether your account uses Modulus 9 or Modulus 10 reference number generation. If you need the Macquarie Bank DEFT Payment set up spreadsheet and Macquarie Bank cannot provide it, contact Re-Leased Support.


Step 2: Generate Reference Numbers and Check Digits

  1. Open the Macquarie Bank DEFT Payment set up spreadsheet and click Enable Content to activate macros.

  1. Select Modulus 9 or 10 based on your bank's advice.

  2. Enter the Tenancy name and the first reference number.

  3. Press Enter to generate the reference with the check digit.

Then enter these details into Re-Leased:

  1. Open the Tenancy Details tab for the first tenancy.

  2. Enter the reference from the Bank Code column into the Online Payment Reference field.

  3. Click Rename to label the custom field Bank Check Digit, then enter the single digit from the spreadsheet.


Step 3: Update Invoice Templates

  1. Navigate to Settings > Invoice Templates.

  2. Select the Default template and click Edit Template.

  3. Click Edit under Payment Advice.

  4. Insert the required Merge Fields to pull through the Tenant Reference and Bank Check Digit.

  5. Add any required images using the Image icon.

Once complete, the tenant reference and check digit will automatically populate on all future invoices sent.
