Cancelling and Restoring Terms

How to cancel a tenancy term in Re-Leased and restore it if needed — covers the two cancellation paths, the confirmation options, what happens after cancellation, and the steps to restore a cancelled term.

Updated over a week ago

Cancelling a term ends the current tenancy period without requiring you to archive the tenancy record. After cancellation, the tenancy remains accessible on the Cancelled tab for editing. Cancelled terms can also be restored if needed.

How to Cancel a Term

There are two ways to start:

  • Open the tenancy, go to Terms & Breaks, click the Contextual Menu [...] and select Cancel Term.

  • From the Dashboard Calendar, click the reminder for the term expiry or renewal and choose Cancel Current Term.

On the confirmation screen:

  1. Review the details to confirm you have the correct term.

  2. If applicable, select Remove From All Direct On-Charge Templates to prevent the term from being applied in the future.

  3. Click Cancel this Term.

The tenancy moves to the Cancelled tab on the Tenancies page. Automatic rent invoices will no longer be generated, but you can still raise income invoices manually. Review any repeating income invoices that may need to be addressed separately.

Note: Cancelling a term is not the same as vacating. If you need final rent calculations, use the Vacate Current Term option instead.

How to Restore a Cancelled Term

  1. Open the tenancy and navigate to the Terms & Breaks tab.

  2. Find and click the cancelled term.

  3. Click Restore Cancelled Term.

The tenancy returns to the Current or Expired section depending on its status.
