Manual journal entries move in both directions between Re-Leased and Sage Intacct. Journals you post in Intacct flow into your Re-Leased general ledger, and journals you create in Re-Leased push out to Intacct. Your trial balance, profit and loss, and general ledger reports reflect the same adjustments in both systems, so you don't need to key anything twice.
Find all your journals in Re-Leased under Accounting > Journals.
Journals Posted in Sage Intacct
Re-Leased brings across manual journal entries - the entries you create yourself in Intacct's General Ledger.
Posted entries only. Drafts and entries pending approval are ignored until they are posted.
Regular and adjusting entries. Re-Leased treats both the same way.
Every debit and credit line, with its amount, account code, date and description.
Journals sync as part of your standard Intacct sync - there's no separate schedule for them. Each sync picks up whatever has changed since the last successful run, and journals are processed after your chart of accounts, contacts and tracking categories so that every account on a line resolves correctly.
Journals You Create in Re-Leased
A manual journal you create in Re-Leased is pushed to Sage Intacct on the next sync, where it posts as a General Ledger journal entry.
Set your journal type first
Re-Leased needs to know which Intacct journal your manual journals should post to. Set this once on your connection:
Go to your Sage Intacct integration and open Integration settings.
Scroll to Journal Type and click Edit.
Enter the Sage Intacct journal symbol you want to use. This is a short code, such as GJ for the General Journal.
Use a symbol that already exists in Intacct under General Ledger > Setup > Journals. If the symbol doesn't match one of your Intacct journals, your journals won't post.
What happens after you post
Once it reaches Intacct, it picks up the Intacct transaction number and is no longer editable in Re-Leased. Intacct is the source of truth from that point, so make any further changes there.
If the push fails, the journal stays editable. The Edit button remains available so you can correct the problem and let the next sync retry it.
Editing a journal that hasn't synced yet creates a reversal and a replacement. Only the replacement journal is sent to Intacct - the original and its reversal stay in Re-Leased for the audit trail.
What Doesn't Sync
Tax on journal lines. Tax added to a manual journal in Intacct is not supported. Keep tax adjustments on invoices, credit notes and AR or AP adjustments, where it syncs correctly.
Property, tenancy and owner coding. Journal lines don't yet carry the tracking that invoices and credit notes do. Dimensions you set in Intacct won't appear as property coding on the Re-Leased journal.
Draft and pending approval entries. Nothing comes across until the entry is posted in Intacct.
Journal entries used to record payments. Payments entered as journal entries still don't sync to Re-Leased.
Attachments. Files attached to the entry in Intacct stay in Intacct.
Financial Years and Periods
Re-Leased needs a financial year covering the date of a journal before it can post it, and it sets this up for you.
Your financial year comes from Intacct. There's no financial year setting in Re-Leased to configure. Re-Leased reads First fiscal month from Intacct, under Company > Setup > Company information > Accounting.
Your year end is the month before your first fiscal month. If your first fiscal month is July, your financial year ends 30 June. If it's January, you're on a calendar year ending 31 December.
Missing years are created on demand. If a journal is dated in a financial year Re-Leased doesn't have yet, Re-Leased creates that year and its twelve monthly periods automatically.
Editing, Reversing and Deleting in Intacct
Re-Leased never deletes a posted journal, so you keep a complete audit trail on both sides.
You edit a posted entry in Intacct. Re-Leased reverses the original entry and posts a corrected version alongside it. Both remain visible in your ledger.
You reverse an entry in Intacct. Intacct creates an offsetting batch, and Re-Leased marks the original as reversed and posts a matching netting entry against it.
Reverse rather than delete. Deleting a posted journal in Intacct is not currently detected by the sync, which leaves the entry sitting in Re-Leased with nothing behind it in Intacct. Always reverse the entry in Intacct instead.
If you see a line description in Re-Leased that begins with Reversed --, that wording came from the reversal batch in Intacct. It tells you the entry originated as a reversal in Intacct, not that Re-Leased changed anything.
Rules Your Entries Need to Meet
Re-Leased applies standard double-entry rules to every journal entry it receives. An entry that breaks one of these won't post.
Debits must equal credits. Unbalanced entries are rejected.
At least one debit line and one credit line are required.
The financial period must be open in Re-Leased. Entries dated in a locked or closed period won't post.
An entry can only be reversed once. A second reversal of the same entry is rejected.
Every account and dimension on the lines must already have synced. If a line uses a general ledger account or tracking option that hasn't come across from Intacct yet, that journal is skipped and picked up on a later sync.
If a Journal Doesn't Appear
Work through these checks before raising a support request:
Confirm the entry is Posted in Intacct, not left as a draft or pending approval.
Confirm it's a General Ledger journal entry rather than a payment recorded as a journal.
For a journal created in Re-Leased, check Journal Type in your integration settings holds a journal symbol that exists in Intacct.
Check that every account code and dimension used on the lines exists in Re-Leased. A journal referencing an account that hasn't synced yet is held back.
Check the financial period covering the entry date is open in Re-Leased.
Check the entry balances and has both a debit and a credit line.
Check the entry carries no tax, which isn't supported on journals.
Review your Sync Results page for an error against the entry.
If it still doesn't appear, contact our support team with the Intacct journal batch number and the date of the entry.
