How to Connect Xero to Re-Leased

How to connect Xero to Re-Leased — prerequisites, step-by-step connection guide, completing the reconciliation steps for tax types, accounts, tracking, and contacts, and post-connection tracking setup.

Updated over a week ago

This guide walks you through connecting Re-Leased to Xero. Before starting, ensure the following are ready in your Xero account: Tax Types, Chart of Accounts, a tracking category named Property (with each property listed as an option), and invoice branding settings.

Note: If you currently issue rent invoices in Xero, cancel those recurring invoices before connecting — Re-Leased will take over the invoicing process.

Step 1 — Navigate to Integrations

  1. Go to Settings in Re-Leased and select the company you want to sync from the dropdown.

  2. Scroll down and select Manage Integrations & Add-ons.

Step 2 — Connect to Xero

  1. Click Connect on the Xero status tile.

  2. Review the sync details and click Connect to Xero.

  3. Enter your Xero login credentials and select the Xero company to integrate, then grant access.

  4. Choose your Sync from Date. Transactions before 2018 and changes to pre-sync invoices will not sync after the initial integration.

Step 3 — Reconciliation Steps

Complete each reconciliation in order:

  1. Tax Type Reconciliation — match Re-Leased tax types to Xero tax types.

  2. Account Reconciliation — reconcile your chart of accounts.

  3. Tracking Reconciliation — match or archive tracking options.

  4. Contacts Reconciliation — reconcile all contacts.

Once all reconciliations are complete, click Confirm to start the first sync. You can continue working in Re-Leased while the initial sync runs in the background — a blue flag in the header indicates completion.

Step 4 — Post-Connection: Link Tracking Categories

  1. After connecting, link the tracking category to your Re-Leased companies by going to Settings > Integrations & Add ons.

  1. Within each property in Re-Leased, navigate to Property Details and assign the property to its corresponding Xero tracking category.

  2. Repeat for every company you want to integrate with Xero.
